Woman says she knew she killed officer

Associated Press

EUGENE, Ore. – During a police interrogation of a woman accused of shooting a Eugene police officer, the woman said she knew she shot a police officer and believed the police had been following her before the shooting.

The Eugene Register-Guard reported 56-year-old Cheryl D. Kidd has a developmental disability and a history of mental illness. Kidd is accused of shooting Eugene traffic officer Chris Kilcullen to death on April 22.

During the interview, Kidd reportedly had trouble focusing, and would only occasionally answer the questions put to her.

Kidd has pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated murder, which carries the possibility of the death penalty.

She has a “history of mental illness” but still was able to get a gun? I wonder if she made a “legal” purchase, or obtained the gun in another way?

I am sorry to hear a officer lost his life, and my sympathy goes out to his family. This lady should not have been driving and/or have a loaded gun. Our system failed him, and his family.

Have we ever heard oneof our police officers say that? I’m sorry, Hirzel, Torok, Olson, or Thompson? No they scream self defense, self defense, self defense, damn i got a run in my stockings, self defense!
