Man hospitalized after crashing car near Spirit Lake

A man was hospitalized Friday night after he lost control of his vehicle on Highway 41 near Spirit Lake.

Peter T. Gokey, 42, of Blanchard, was northbound in a GMC Sierra pickup truck when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve on Spirit Lake Cutoff Road at 11 p.m., went off the east shoulder and into some trees, according to Idaho State Police.

Gokey was taken to Kootenai Medical Center for treatment of injuries he sustained in the crash. He is stable condition this afternoon.

He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

ISP is still investigating the accident.
