Decided Freshman star Terrence Jones is sticking around his old Kentucky home. The 6-foot-8 forward announced via Twitter on Saturday that he was taking his name out of the NBA draft and returning for his sophomore year with the Wildcats. Jones was chosen Southeastern Conference Newcomer of the Year by The Associated Press.

Claimed Indianapolis 500 champion Helio Castroneves may have beaten the government in a criminal tax-evasion case two years ago, and paid $5 million in income taxes after the trial was all over. But apparently that wasn’t enough for the Internal Revenue Service, which says he owes millions more in back taxes – again. In U.S. Tax Court in Miami, the IRS claimed the Brazilian race car star still owes more than $6 million in additional taxes and fraud penalties on the same licensing income he had earned from Penske Racing Team in 2000-04.

Involved Authorities in Torrance, Calif., said David Beckham was behind the wheel of a car that rear-ended another vehicle on the freeway. The California Highway Patrol said the soccer great was not hurt in the crash, but the other car’s driver was hospitalized after complaining of neck pain. The patrol said Beckham’s Cadillac struck a Mitsubishi stalled in the carpool lane. Beckham was not cited.

Sidelined Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron is expected to miss one or two games of the Eastern Conference finals with a mild concussion. Bergeron is Boston’s top playoff scorer with two goals and 10 assists. He was hurt early in the third period Friday night on a hit by Philadelphia’s Claude Giroux.

Announced Boxing trainer Freddie Roach, celebrated corner man of Manny Pacquiao, will work with the top American amateur fighters in preparation for the London Olympics in 2012, USA Boxing announced. Roach isn’t replacing national team coach Joe Zanders, but will help hone the top amateur fighters’ skills during training sessions at his Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, Calif.

Suspended Michigan receiver Darryl Stonum has been suspended indefinitely. Head football coach Brady Hoke didn’t say what Stonum did to get suspended or how he would be disciplined other than being suspended indefinitely from team activities.
