WSU’s Thompson remaining in draft

PULLMAN – Washington State’s Klay Thompson will forego his senior season and remain in the NBA draft, it was announced Sunday.

“After taking the last few weeks to make my decision about the NBA, I have decided to remain in the draft,” Thompson said. “My dream has always been to play in the NBA and I am excited to take the next step in making that a reality.”

A native of Ladera Ranch, Calif., Thompson led the Pacific-10 Conference and ranked 11th in the country with 21.6 points per game while setting the school record with 733 points during the 2010-11 season. He was named first team all-league for the second-straight season.

Today was the last day to withdraw from the draft, which will take place June 23.
