New Faces

Jared Nichols has become a licensed owner of OZ Fitness in Airway Heights. He previously served as a club manager of 24 Hours Fitness clubs in Seattle and Southeast Asia for the past 10 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in international affairs from Eastern Washington University.

Skils’kin has hired Kimberly Runkel as employment manager. She previously worked for Comcast Corporation in advertising and marketing. The company has also hired Jamie Deandre as community living services manager. She previously worked with Washington State DD Care and Haven Homes and has more than 16 years of disability services experience. Dr. Gregory Loewen has joined Providence Pulmonary Oncology with offices at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Providence Holy Family Hospital. He is a graduate of the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed a fellowship in pulmonary disease and is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care. He previously served as director of pulmonary medicine at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, N.Y.

Kudos

The American Academy of Neurology has named Dr. Scott Carlson a fellow member. Carlson is a provider at Rockwood Neurology Center.

Wayne Sweeney has been named a 2011 Distinguished Lawyer by the Idaho State Bar Association. Sweeney serves as an attorney and branch manager for the Lukins and Annis Coeur d’Alene office.

The American Society of Heating and Air Conditioning presented George Augustini with a Building Energy Assessment Professional certification designation. Augustini is a mechanical engineer-in-training at Coffman Engineers Inc.

Dr. Terence Neff has been named to the Meaningful Use Vanguard program by the Washington and Idaho Regional Extension Center for adoption leadership and meaningful use of electronic health records. Dr. Neff is a board certified pediatrician with Coeur d’Alene Pediatrics.

The following local marketing, communications and public relations professionals received Brightest Spark Awards during the Spokane Regional Marketing and Communications Association’s 2011 Spark Awards: Klundt Hosmer and April Pierre; Avista Corp., Coates Agency and Hamilton Studios; and HollisterStier Allergy and Mentus Life Science. Winner of the Dussault Brightest Spark Award was Avista Corp. for its campaign, “The Powermonger.”

Gifts

Coffman Engineers employees raised $10,500, and the company matched $5,000, all of which was donated to the American Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund.

Appointed

The Washington State University Department of Health Policy and Administration has appointed Joseph Coyne as chair. Coyne is a professor of health policy and administration for WSU Spokane.

Andy Joseph Jr. has been appointed co-chair of the Tribal Technical Advisory Committee for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Joseph is a member of the Colville Business Council representing the Nespelem District.

The Spokane County Board of County Commissioners appointed David Vachon to the Health Sciences and Services Authority of Spokane County’s Board of Directors to serve a four-year term. Vachon is CEO and founder of Iasis Molecular Sciences LLC, Spokane.

Elected

Larry Lanning and Robin Harmon have been elected to Numerica Credit Union’s Board of Directors to serve three-year terms.
