Construction causes westbound jam at state line

A construction project along Interstate 90 at the state lines has westbound traffic reduced to one lane, causing long traffic delays. Cars are backed up for several miles, the Idaho State Police report. They urge motorists to seek alternate routes. Using an “emergency crossover” - lanes designed to allow emergency vehicles to quickly turn the other direction on the freeway, is a misdemeanor violation and can result in a fine or even jail time. Motorists also are asked to be careful, as traffic is moving very slowly. For more information on the project at the Washington Port of Entry, visit http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/i90/spokanepoe.
