At moose ends

Lazing ritual: This female moose wandered into Spokesman-Review photographer J. Bart Rayniak’s yard in Otis Orchards last Saturday morning. She made herself comfortable for the day, resting in the shade and foraging on bushes and flowering cherry blossoms. According to Washington Fish and Wildlife Officer Paul Mosman, even though moose are quite docile, they are unpredictable, so it’s best to put your dogs inside and keep your distance until they wander away, which this one did at dusk.
