Let them eat books for EWU

Just-for-fun contest is open to all comers

Entries in the Books2Eat contest can be based on any book.
Staff Report

The Eastern Washington University Friends of the Library invites the public to attend its free Books2Eat festival at the JFK Library on the Cheney campus on Wednesday.

This is an annual event in which confections are created by anyone wishing to participate. Entries must portray the theme of a book (any book) and are submitted for judging by the public from 1-2:30 p.m. At 3 p.m., the winning entries will be announced, forks and plates handed out – and all the treats consumed by those in attendance.

Past entries have included themes based on “Alice in Wonderland,” “How to Cook Roadkill,” “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and “Death by Chocolate.”

For details, visit ewu.edu/library or contact FOL member Harriet Plucker at handbplucker@ comcast.net or (509) 448-0934.

“We put on this just-for-fun event toward the end of spring quarter every year as a way simply to bring the Eastern community together with the Spokane and Cheney communities and to draw everyone’s attention to what a wonderful resource the JFK Library is,” said Plucker, who’s organizing the event. “We invite everyone to come. … You can have your book and eat it, too!”
