Sounders sneak past Kansas City 1-0

SEATTLE – Jeff Parke scored on a header off Tyson Wahl’s corner kick in the third minute of second-half stoppage time to give the Seattle Sounders a 1-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night.

Sounders goalkeeper Kasey Keller recorded his third shutout of the season.

Wahl’s corner kick from the right side floated across the box to Parke, who went up from just outside the 6-yard box and nodded a shot just inside the left post past goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen.

The win helped the Sounders (4-3-5) extend their unbeaten streak to four games and climb into a tie with FC Dallas for second place in the Western Conference.

Kansas City (1-6-1) lost its fifth straight game.
