Pleaded Former Michigan star and NBA player Jalen Rose pleaded guilty Wednesday to drunken driving, telling a judge he was embarrassed to admit that he drank six martinis the night he veered off a snowy road and rolled his Cadillac Escalade. Rose pleaded guilty in district court in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He faces up to 93 days in a jail when he’s sentenced July 27.

Acquitted The brother of figure skater Nancy Kerrigan was acquitted of manslaughter in the death of their 70-year-old father by a jury that apparently agreed with his defense that the elder man died of heart disease, not from a scuffle between the two. Mark Kerrigan, 46, was convicted, though, of a misdemeanor assault and battery charge in a January 2010 altercation with Daniel Kerrigan at the family’s home in Stoneham, just north of Boston. Nancy Kerrigan had supported her brother and attended every day of the nine-day trial in Woburn (Mass.) Superior Court.

Retired Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brian Rafalski, a three-time Stanley Cup winner and two-time Olympic silver medalist confirmed he’s retiring after 11 seasons in the NHL, leaving on the table the $6 million he would have made for one more season. The 37-year-old had knee and back injuries that limited him to a career-low 63 games last season, putting him on the training table every day for treatment.

• Former NFL kicker Matt Stover will retire after a stellar career in which he scored more than 2,000 points. The Ravens say Stover will make the announcement on this afternoon at Baltimore’s training complex. Stover, 43, ranks fourth in NFL history with 2,004 points.

Announced Driver/owner Tony Stewart would be interested in signing Danica Patrick if she makes a full-time move to NASCAR. But Stewart only would be interested in signing Patrick to a Sprint Cup ride for Stewart-Haas Racing, which does not field a second-tier Nationwide Series team.

Sidelined Roush Fenway Racing will hold Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne out of racing at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway, the fifth consecutive week he’ll miss because of an inflammatory condition. Bayne has been testing, but team officials decided to hold him out of racing 900 miles over two days at Charlotte.
