The 17th annual West Valley Days celebration, hosted by West Valley SCOPE, will take place in Millwood City Park next Saturday.
The event always starts with a parade down neighborhood streets before ending at the park, at Frederick Avenue and Stout Road. The festivities begin at 11 a.m. and continue through 3 p.m.
Activities in the park will include carnival games, prizes, information booths and a live DJ. Bidding in a silent auction will begin at 2 p.m. This year there will be eight bicycles of differing sizes for the free raffle contest for kids. Each bike comes with a free helmet. Drawings will be held at 1 and 2:30 p.m. and children must be present to win.
The parade begins at 11 a.m. at Trent Avenue and Boeing Road, moving north to Grace Avenue, west on Grace to Stout Road, and north on Stout to the park. The grand marshal will be Spokane Valley Police Chief Rick Van Leuven. Be sure to arrive early to get a prime viewing spot.
West Valley SCOPE volunteers put on the event as their annual fundraiser. Every year the group takes the proceeds from the event and votes on which local charity to donate the money to.
