Your week

Death Cab for Cutie’s latest album comes out Tuesday. (File)

YOUR HEALTH

Early detection of skin cancers – particularly melanomas – is crucial to treatment. And with summer sunshine on the way (supposedly), it pays to do regular self-exams:

• Check all of your moles about every six months, especially if you have lots of them or have a personal or family history of skin cancer. See a dermatologist once a year for a routine full-body check.

• Look for new or changing moles. It’s normal to develop new moles into your early 20s, but not beyond. Pay attention to any that have changed in size, color or shape. (Taking pictures every six or 12 months helps keep track.)

• Beware of pink or black. Normal moles and other benign skin growths typically are varying shades of tan to brown.

• Don’t overlook the soles of your feet or your genital area; ask a partner or friend to check your back and have your hairdresser inspect your scalp.

YOUR HOME

How do you fix your lawn when Spot leaves, well, spots?

NatraTurf ’s SpotGone! is designed to repair patches of grass that have been burned by dog urine, as well as de-icers.

The organic pellets contain calcium sulfate, which binds with excess nitrogen salts in the urine or deicer so those salts can be flushed away by watering or rain.

SpotGone! can be ordered at www.natraturf.com or (800) 255-8196. A bag containing enough pellets to treat 200 urine spots or 200 square feet of de-icer burn costs $19.95 plus shipping.

YOUR FOOD

So the calendar says grilling season, but the sky says showers? Quick, tasty Mushroom Pesto Steak can be prepared indoors on the stove in your nice, dry kitchen.
