Firefighters stop blaze on Upriver Drive
Spokane Valley firefighters were called to a house fire around 1:40 p.m. on Upriver Drive east of Argonne Road.
The fire at 10314 E. Upriver forced closure of the eastbound lane of Upriver.
The fire began in the basement, so firefighters broke out a basement window and used the opening to douse the blaze, said Capt. Pat Schaffer in a press release this afternoon.
Once that was accomplished, they then entered the home and finished the job of putting out the fire.
Damage was estimated at $40,000. No injuries were reported. The cause was under investigation.
