Wandermere provided excellent venue

Extra credit should be given to owner and head pro Bobby Ross, his family and maintenance crew at Wandermere Golf Course for allowing the 4A/3A regional cross country meet on the course on Oct. 29.

The regional meet includes high school teams from all over eastern Washington. What a sight to see hundreds of young people engaged in such a competitive, healthy activity on this beautiful fall-colored course. A high knoll not only gives you a view of most of the 3.1-mile race, but it shows the brightly colored team tents, the crystal-clear spring-fed ponds and the magnificent puffy willow trees that outline the fairways. It was pure eye candy to me and I’m sure the hundreds of spectators.

My eyes get wider again just thinking about what I saw. If you haven’t been to one of the high school fall cross country races, be sure to find a time next fall. The fall colors and enthusiasm of the young runners will make your day. Mr. Ross, I have decided to give you an A-plus and extra credit.
