Football roundup: Royal ends Colville’s season

Colville’s unlikely run to the state playoffs ended Saturday night.

Alex Myrick scored on a 1-yard run with 3 minutes, 22 seconds left in the fourth quarter, giving Royal a 38-35 win over the Indians in the first round of the State 1A playoffs in Colville.

The Indians (5-5) drove the ball to midfield on their final possession but fumbled to secure the win for Royal.

Colton Davis finished with 215 yards and three touchdowns for Colville. The Indians lost their first four games and won their next five to earn a state playoff berth.

Touchet 28, Cusick 20: The Indians came alive in the second half to beat Cusick (6-5) and advance to the State 1B playoffs.

Touchet didn’t score in the first half, but it scored four touchdowns after halftime. Elias Martinez ran for the first two scores for the Indians and threw a 21-yard pass to Eric Hines that put Touchet ahead 21-6 in the fourth quarter.

Ryan Sample ran for a score and threw for a score for the Panthers.

Touchet (8-2) plays at Almira/Coulee-Hartline (11-0) in the first round on Saturday.

Lighthouse Christian 66, Kootenai 20: The Warriors were eliminated after a loss to host Lighthouse Christian in the semifinals of the Idaho State 1A Division II playoffs.

Brandon Carman had two rushing touchdowns to lead Kootenai (4-6).
