Huskies brush aside Portland

SEATTLE – Terrence Ross scored 13 of his 24 points in the first half, and Washington used big runs at the end of the first half and beginning of the second to rout Portland 93-63 Monday in the final game of the World Vision Basketball Classic.

The Huskies closed out the three-day tournament with their most impressive effort. The young and undersized Pilots (2-1) couldn’t match Washington’s athleticism.

Washington (3-0) closed the first half on an 11-2 spurt, then started the second by scoring 14 of the first 17 points to push its lead to 31 barely five minutes after intermission.

Ross made 9 of 13 shots, including six 3-pointers, as the Huskies finished with six players scoring in double figures.

Freshman guard Tony Wroten, one of the more heralded recruits in Lorenzo Romar’s tenure, finished with 11 points, six assists and five rebounds.

C.J. Wilcox added 17 points on the day he was named Pac-12 Player of the Week, following games of 22 and 19 points to begin the season.

Seven-footer Aziz N’Diaye scored 11 on the interior, while Abdul Gaddy had 15 points, five rebounds and five assists for UW.
