The Colfax Bulldogs are one step closer to their chance at redemption.
Levi Hardy scored from 1 yard out with less than a minute left to give Colfax a 42-37 win over White Swan in the quarterfinals of the State 2B playoffs Friday night in Kennewick.
The Bulldogs (11-0) – who lost in the state title game the past two years – play the winner of today’s game between Lind-Ritzville/Sprague (9-1) and Waitsburg-Prescott (10-0) in the semifinals next weekend.
Ahead by 12 points late in the third quarter, Colfax let White Swan back in the game. A fumble led to a Cougars’ touchdown and, after forcing a Colfax punt, White Swan took a one-point lead when Nathan Nobbs hauled in a 37-yard touchdown pass from Joseph Kosik with 4 minutes to play.
The Bulldogs’ winning drive on their next possession included several third-down conversions and was capped by Hardy’s touchdown run.
Alvin Li finished with 139 yards on the ground and two touchdowns for Colfax. Hardy scored two touchdowns – one rushing and one receiving.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 52, Touchet 8: At Moses Lake, the Warriors (12-0) stole the momentum in the second quarter and cruised to a win over the Indians (8-3) in the quarterfinals of the State 1B playoffs.
The Warriors scored 24 points in the second quarter and led 40-8 at the half.
The game was called with about 9 minutes left in the fourth quarter because of the mercy rule.
Collin Deyarmin ran for 152 yards on 18 carries and scored four touchdowns – all coming in the first half. Derek Isaak added 162 rushing yards and a 32-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
ACH, which fell to Cusick in the semifinals last year, plays the winner of tonight’s Wellpinit-Pomeroy game next weekend.
