Cop apology shameful

I am writing to say shame on Mayor Mary Verner and police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick for giving an apology for the cops who saluted Karl Thompson in the courtroom the other day. In my opinion, by doing that they are condoning the bad and insensitive actions of the Spokane Police Department. I personally do not have much respect for them.

Thompson was found guilty by his group of his peers, which is how the American justice system works, so now it is only fair that he serve his sentence for as long as it is determined.

I truly believe that he brought this whole mess upon himself. If he had just told the truth from the very beginning, and not tried to cover up, he wouldn’t be in the situation that he is today, and the whole sordid affair wouldn’t have lasted this many years. Where was your oath of truthfulness and integrity that you took when you were sworn in as a police officer? You seem to have conveniently forgotten parts of your oath.

I also believe that we are given free agency to make many choices in our lives. When we made bad ones, we need to pay the consequences.
