Department reputation sorry

As bad as the reputation of the Spokane Police Department was, the shocking behavior of police officers gathered to salute a fellow officer found guilty of excessive use of force, and in front of the victim’s family no less, only cemented this reputation for years to come. My tax dollars are not authorized to pay for this good ol’ boys network, supporting one of their own regardless of that person’s actions. The behavior of those in attendance does no favors to those officers who are willing to see that even one of their own is capable of being on the wrong side of the law. It is the law that we hold sacred, not the group of people enforcing it, and no one is above it. The police are a public entity, and the message sent today tells the public of Spokane – this officer severely beat an innocent man, a man who could be any of you, citizens of Spokane – and we support this perpetrator 100 percent. It is past time to let officers know what will and what will not be accepted as part of their duties as employees of the public of the city of Spokane.
