Barefoot Bandit mulling plea deal on state charges

COUPEVILLE, Wash. (AP) — A prosecutor says lawyers are completing a plea deal for the man known as the Barefoot Bandit that could give him about nine years in prison on state charges. Prosecutor Gregory Banks says Colton Harris-Moore is expected to plead guilty to about 30 burglary and other charges combined from Island, Snohomish and San Juan counties when he appears on Dec. 16 in court in Coupeville. Prosecutors are asking for a maximum sentence, which the 20-year-old would begin serving after he completes a federal term. The deal also calls for his crime victims to receive more than $1 million restitution from the proceeds of book and movie deals about his multi-state crime spree and two years on the run. He was arrested in 2010 in the Bahamas.
