‘Journey’ study celebrates Advent

By The Spokesman-Review

If you are looking for a way to prepare spiritually for Christmas, Spokane Valley United Methodist Church will offer a special Advent Bible study on Thursday nights beginning this Thursday.

Each session, based on “The Journey” by Adam Hamilton, will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The final session will be on Dec. 22. The book focuses on the birth of Jesus and uses historical information and archaeological data.

People attending the classes may purchase daily Advent readings based on the book for $6.30. Call the church at (509) 924-7262 for more information or to register. The church is at 115 N. Raymond Road.

Dessert theater

The congregation of Pasadena Park Church of the Nazarene will host a dessert theater at 7 p.m. next Saturday at the church, 8822 E. Upriver Drive. The four-act play “Gabriel’s Story” will tell the Christmas story from the angel Gabriel’s perspective.

The cost is $5 per person and reservations are required. Call the church at (509) 926-5858 for more information or to register.

Monthly dinner

A free community dinner is served on the last Tuesday of every month at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2511 S. Pines Road. The meal is open to all and is served at 6 p.m. Those planning to attend are asked to call the church office at (509) 926-7966 by noon on the day of the meal to make reservations.
