Ex-Cougar McEndoo receives FCS award

Montana State offensive line coach Jason McEndoo is the American Football Coaches Association assistant coach of the year for the Football Championship Subdivision.

McEndoo, an All-Pac-10 offensive lineman at Washington State in 1997, is in his 12th year of coaching and his ninth season at Montana State.

He is the coordinator of community service projects for the MSU football team, which accumulates more than 800 hours of community service each year. He has also volunteered as a youth baseball and T-Ball coach.

McEndoo has coached six Bobcats All-Americans and nine first-team All-Big Sky Conference selections, including Jeff Bolton, an All-America center who in 2010 won the Rimington Award given to the top center in the FCS.

This season, the Bobcats were second in the Big Sky Conference in rushing yards and first in scoring offense.

EWU punter finalist

Jake Miller, Eastern Washington’s punter from Central Valley, is one of 20 finalists for the first Jerry Rice Award, which will honor the freshman of the year in the Football Championship Subdivision.

Miller, who transferred from Washington State, averaged 44.2 yards on 38 punts. He had 10 of 50 yards or more, with a long of 59 yards, and landed 10 inside the 20-yard line.

Shock add experience

The Spokane Shock added three players with pro experience – LB Pago Tofafau (NFL), DB Patrick Stoudamire (UFL, AFL) and DL Chris Tucker (CFL, AFL, NFL).

The team also released DB Lametrius Davis and DLs Freddie Harris and Marcus Broxie.
