New cookbook shares stories
“Molly the Marmot Mixes It Up” is a new cookbook and storybook that lets readers follow Molly as she travels the world in search of recipes for cooks young and old. The book comes from the Northeast Community Center, 4001 N. Cook St., and features recipes from employees and friends of the center. Proceeds from the book will help fund community center programs.
It is $15 if purchased at the center and $20 at one of three local bookstores. It can be found at Hastings bookstores, 1704 W. Wellesley in Spokane and 15312 E. Sprague Ave. in Spokane Valley, and The Book Parlor, 1425 W. Broadway Ave.
Here’s a sample recipe from the book:
From “Molly the Marmot Mixes it Up: A Cookbook and Storybook for the Young and Young at Heart.” The recipe was shared by Jean Farmer.

1/2 cup peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)

In your saucepan, combine sugar, butter, milk and cocoa.
