Idaho men win Jim Colbert Collegiate

Idaho’s men placed four golfers in the top 10 Tuesday while winning the Jim Colbert Collegiate at Manhattan, Kan.

The Vandals’ Justin Kadin shot his third consecutive even-par 216 to tie for second place. Jarred Bossio (218) placed fourth, Stefan Richardson (219) fifth and Gordon Webb (223) eighth for Idaho.

Idaho finished at 10-over 874 for a 12-stroke gap on Boise State.

• Sophomore Jarrett Foote tied for 10th place and his Cougars shot a solid 5-over 293 in the final round of the Wolf Pack Classic at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Stateline, Nev.

Foote shot a 1-under 71 to finish at 221, six shots behind champion Jay Myers of San Jose State, the team champion. The Cougars (909) finished 28 shots behind the Spartans.

Volleyball

Yang Yang and Janele Vogt had 19 kills apiece as North Idaho (14-7) defeated visiting Carroll (Mont.) College 3-1 in nonconference play.

Maureen Frauenholtz had 20 digs for the Saints (15-7).

• Whitworth senior Kaimi Rocha was named Northwest Conference Player of the Week after leading the first-place Pirates to wins over Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran.

Football

Eastern Washington defensive end Anthony Larry was named Big Sky Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts during Saturday’s win over Weber State.

Larry recorded six tackles, one for a loss, and recovered a fumble with 21 seconds left to preserve the Eagles’ first win of the season.

Women’s soccer

Whitworth senior goalkeeper Callie Bergstrom was named NWC Defensive Player of the Week after compiling 10 saves in a win over Lewis & Clark and a tie with Linfield.

Tennis

Idaho sophomore Victoria Lozano was named Western Athletic Conference Player of the Month for September after compiling a 3-1 record in singles and 2-1 in doubles.

Cross country

Sophomore Hannah Kiser and senior Stephane Colle earned WAC Athlete of the Week awards for Idaho after their performances at last Saturday’s Bill Dellinger Invitational at Eugene, Ore.

Kiser won the 5,000-meter women’s race in 16 minutes, 45.71 seconds. Colle placed 11th among collegians, clocking 24:06.45, the fastest 8,000 in the WAC this season.
