Roundup: CV blasts G-Prep in matchup of GSL unbeatens

Central Valley and Gonzaga Prep entered Wednesday’s Greater Spokane League girls soccer match at CV with identical 4-0 league records.

CV made it a lopsided match nearly from the start.

Paige Ellingson scored off Paige Gallaway’s crossing pass at 3 minutes to start the Bears (9-1 overall) toward a 6-0 win over the Bullpups (9-2).

Gallaway, Holly Miller and Kasey Ames all finished with one goal and one assist for the Bears, who have four straight shutouts and have only lost to Lake City of Coeur d’Alene.

Gallaway’s 30-yard shot early in the second half gave CV a 5-0 lead.

In other GSL matches, Sarah Barrentine and Sarah Nanny ran onto long clearances for 1-on-1 goals in the first half, helping Lewis and Clark (11-1, 4-1) post a 4-2 win over Shadle Park (4-6, 1-4) at Albi Stadium. Julia Moravic set up LC’s first goal and scored at 52 minutes for a 4-0 lead. Tiara Pajimola broke through for the Highlanders at 69 minutes. … Seven players scored as visiting Mead (8-2, 3-2) strolled to a 7-0 victory over Rogers (0-6, 0-5) at Rypien Field. The Panthers’ Kara Marbury set up Malia Maack’s first-minute goal and scored at 20 minutes. Meads hosts LC on Wednesday when league play resumes. … Senior Mikayla Wolff scored at 18 minutes and Danika Martin followed with a goal set up by Alyssa Lloyd’s flick as Mt. Spokane (5-4, 2-3) took a 5-0 win over host North Central (2-6, 1-4) at Merkel Field. Martin set up Katie Nilsson’s goal early in the second half, and Annie Schellerude closed out the match with one goal and one assist. … Ella Lamm scored off a pass from Sena Burchak late in the first half and University (2-3, 2-3) held on for a 1-0 win over Ferris (6-2, 4-1) at Albi. Taylor Lang made three saves to record the shutout.
