One dead, one injured in attempted murder/suicide
A Spokane woman was wounded Monday in an attack by her ex-boyfriend, who then fatally shot himself, police said.
The man’s body was found slumped in a yard outside a home converted into apartments in the 3100 block of East Fifth Avenue, according to the Spokane Police Department.
A gun was found nearby, neighbors said. Both the victim and gunman are in their mid 20s and had recently ended a relationship, police said.
The woman was inside the building with a gunshot wound to her head after officers were alerted to the attack at 12:11 p.m. She was rushed to a Spokane hospital with a gunshot wound to her head. She was in stable condition Monday evening, said Officer Jennifer DeRuwe, police spokeswoman.
Identities were being withheld pending notification of relatives.
Neighbors said police arrived to find the man dead on the front lawn of the building. They soon moved into the home with guns drawn and exited with the wounded woman.

I wonder if this is connected to the Trade Winds incident last night?

Is this the same shooting or a different one from last night’s shooting that is up on KHQ at http://www.khq.com/story/15653805/police
?

It is a different location but I wonder if it may be the same people? Maybe the guy with the gun in the Trade Winds incident, that got away, finally got his intended targets?

Trade Winds Incident occurred about 9pm last night.
I doubt KHQ would have had today’s shooting story THAT soon.

Anyone want to lay odds that one of the local TV news reporters says it was a “quiet neighborhood shattered by gunfire”? Maybe they can find a resident to say, “This kind of thing doesn’t happen here.”
This would jibe with every neighborhood with houses over $200K being described as an area of “luxury homes.” It’s all relative, I guess.
In my own Valley neighborhood of luxury homes there’s a neighbor who drives by every 8 to 10 minutes in a Cadillac pick-up. It’s become a spectator sport on my street. What kind of an errand does someone do that only takes 8-10 minutes and occurs throughout the day?
Interesting times most everywhere in Spokane nowadays.

Guys it is a different day. The status of the victims is different. Last night no one dead. Today someone dead. Maybe it is the same people, but the media has not been told as of press time.

Kivaari — Forgot to mention the plentitude of wives from the former Soviet Union. All of a sudden, it seemed like every other guy in the neighborhood got himself a Slavic bride. I’m not drawing any solid conclusions, but it’s all kind of, um, well, “noteworthy.”

Zelda, Good point. Many of the brides end up in bad situtations.
