A Spokane woman was wounded Monday in an attack by her ex-boyfriend, who then fatally shot himself, police said. The man’s body was found slumped in a yard outside a home converted into apartments in the 3100 block of East Fifth Avenue, according to the Spokane Police Department. A gun was found nearby, neighbors said. Both the victim and gunman are in their mid 20s and had recently ended a relationship, police said. The woman was inside the building with a gunshot wound to her head after officers were alerted to the attack at 12:11 p.m. She was rushed to a Spokane hospital with a gunshot wound to her head. She was in stable condition Monday evening, said Officer Jennifer DeRuwe, police spokeswoman. Identities were being withheld pending notification of relatives. Neighbors said police arrived to find the man dead on the front lawn of the building. They soon moved into the home with guns drawn and exited with the wounded woman.
