In brief: Vikings sit Berrian for unspecified reasons

Berrian’s absence a mystery

NFL: Bernard Berrian was a surprise healthy scratch for the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday against Arizona, the first time in his career the receiver has not played in a game for a reason other than injury.

Berrian has just two catches for 37 yards this season.

He wrote on Twitter during a rant after last week’s loss to Kansas City that he’s been open for the past four years but hasn’t gotten the ball.

Top 25 sun sets on Florida teams

College football: Florida is out of The Associated Press Top 25 poll.

Not just the Gators – the entire state.

For the first time since Dec. 6, 1982, no team from the Sunshine State is in the AP poll. Florida dropped out after losing to No. 1 LSU 41-11, and Florida State continued its freefall by losing at Wake Forest 35-30.

The top five teams – LSU, Alabama, Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Boise State – remained the same.
