Man hit by car in downtown Spokane

An Occupy Spokane protester was transported to a local hospital after being hit by a car while apparently crossing Main Avenue against a red light. The crash occurred just before 8:20 p.m. tonight at the intersection of Main and Monroe Street. The man, who suffered non life-threatening injuries, was hit by an older, two-door Ford Mustang, which remained on the scene. The car was westbound on Main when he hit the victim, who was northbound on Monroe. The driver and several witnesses said the driver had a green light. Police say the victim was wearing dark clothing and the driver didn’t see him. Protesters at Riverside Avenue and Main thanked police who responded to the scene.
