OK, now it’s time for Apple Pie Cake

We whet readers’ appetites with a picture of an Apple Pie Cake on the cover of last Wednesday’s Food section, but then left them hanging.

The recipe was left out of the story due to a snafu with the wire service that shares stories for publication. Unfortunately, we didn’t catch it before the section was published.

Never fear hungry cooks. We’ve tracked down that recipe and it can be found inside today’s section on page C3.

Area cooks win prizes

Hayden, Idaho resident Robert Gadsby is the top-prize winner in the Below Zero Hero Milkshake Recipe Contest.

Sponsored by Meadow Gold and Below Zero Hero, Gadsby’s recipe was chosen from the top 25 recipes submitted to the contest.

The shakes were judged by a professional chef and then the top shakes were published online for voting.

Gadsby’s recipe for Chocolate Cream Pie Milkshake was the winner. (Yep, there are whole slices of chocolate cream pie in the shake.) He earned $10,000 for his recipe.

Look inside today’s food section for the winning recipe.

Another recent contest winner, Linda Wilson, of Spokane, took home some $400 in Peanut Butter & Co. products for entering the “Happiness in NYC Sweepstakes.”

There is still time to enter the contest, sponsored by Peanut Butter & Co. and Delta Vacations to celebrate the release of the first official Peanuts animated features since the death of Peanuts creator Charles Schulz. The grand prize includes round-trip airfare and hotel for four to New York and a prize package of goodies.

To enter the sweepstakes, visit: www.ilovepeanut butter.com/happiness. The deadline is Nov. 30.
