Idaho drivers can put on their studded tires
As of Oct. 1, Idaho drivers can legally put studded snow tires on their cars.
“Snow has fallen in several of Idaho’s higher elevations recently,” The Idaho Transportation Department noted in a news release.
But the transportation department advised drivers against installing their studded tires unless “extreme conditions warrant” because of the wear and tear they cause to the roads. Instead, ITD said all-season tires with good tread, or studless snow tires, work well in most winter driving conditions.
Studs are legal in Washington as of Nov. 1.
