Tuel may start for WSU against Stanford

PULLMAN – Washington State football coach Paul Wulff opened the door Thursday to Jeff Tuel starting at quarterback for the Cougars against Stanford on Saturday.

When asked if Marshall Lobbestael would definitely start his sixth consecutive game in relief of Tuel, Wulff answered, “No.”

“We’re still going through everything,” he said. “There’s a high probability that he could, obviously. Again, we’re just going to go through it and see how it falls.”

Tuel, a junior, fractured his clavicle in the season opener against Idaho State and was only cleared for full contact on Wednesday. He’s taken snaps with the starters since, sharing time with Lobbestael.

Wulff said Tuel would play against the seventh-ranked Cardinal, but the decision on how much and in what capacity would be determined either tonight or Saturday morning.
