Motorcycle-car wreck shuts down Appleway

Police have Appleway Boulevard shut down between Dishman-Mica and Farr roads in Spokane Valley as they investigate a motorcycle-vs.-SUV accident. The driver of the BMW motorcycle was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital, police said. The driver of the Jeep Wrangler involved in the accident also was not injured. Police said the motorcyclist was southbound on Farr and was attempting to turn east onto Appleway when the collision with the northbound Jeep occured. Traffic on Appleway is being diverted, and police expect the road to be closed until about 9 p.m. Drivers may want to consider alternate routes through the area. The accident remains under investigation.
