99 Percenters fed up

In an interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN, GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich said the protests on Wall Street are against the failed policies of President Barack Obama, and that they signaled a need to repeal newly enacted Wall Street regulations. The only thing he got right, however, was that he identified the protesters as Obama supporters.

The reality is that these protests are in response to the fact that the Republicans and Democrats in Washington, D.C., have ignored the pleas of the American people for action.

The 99 Percenters, as they’ve begun to call themselves, are fed up with watching the One Percenters get fatter and fatter while they watch their own salaries (if they have one) and savings evaporate before their very eyes.

Republicans who continue to push the cutting of programs like Social Security, education and health care while standing resolute in their refusal to raise taxes on the rich, along with the Democrats who wring their hands whining they have no choice but to go along with them, do so at their own political peril.
