Authorities identify alleged burglar shot in Moses Lake

The Grant County Sheriff’s office today identified the man shot to death while allegedly attempting to burglarize a medical marijuana patient.

Police say Joshua Montano, 30, of Moses Lake, was killed in the Oct. 16 shooting at 4301 Ottmar Road NE No. 5.

The home’s occupant, Timothy Mandelas, faces two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. While Mandelas has a medical marijuana license, police say he was in possession of more than two pounds of marijuana, more than the amount allowed under state law.

Police say he admitted to selling the marijuana to other medical marijuana card holders, which the law does not allow. However, at this time he has not been charged with any crimes related to the shooting itself.
