Early morning temperatures dropped to the middle 20s for the second morning in a row today. The 7 a.m. temperature was 26 at Spokane International Airport and Coeur d’Alene and 27 at Felts Field. Deer Park dropped to 19. Morning temperatures were well into the 20s on Wednesday, too. The cold air should give way today to temperatures in the upper 40s with sunshine. The high in Spokane is forecast to reach 49. One more night of below-freezing temperatures is expected with a low of 30 in Spokane. Then, the first in a pair of Pacific storm systems moves toward the region, bringing clouds at first and then a 70 percent chance of rain by Friday night. The high Friday is expected to be 55. Temperatures continue to warm by several degrees with lows at night in the middle 30s and highs in the 50s through Sunday. The second Pacific frontal system arrives on Sunday night. The storm systems may bring snow to higher elevations. The current mass of cold air could initially allow snow to fall as low as 3,000 feet near the Canadian border. As the Pacific air replaces the dry air, the snow levels will rise to between 4,000 and 5,000 feet to the north and as high as 6,000 feet to the south of Spokane. The snow could be an issue for outdoor acitivities.
