• McDirmid, Mikkelsen and Secrest P.S. promoted James Lewis and Katie Ness to Staff A accountants.

Education

Scott Finnie received the Community Colleges of Spokane Foundation/Spokane Teachers Credit Union’s 2011 Deccio Excellence in Equity Award. Finnie is a history instructor at Spokane Community College.

• Public School Employees of Washington presented Jeff Cross with its PSE President’s Leadership Award during the organization’s annual convention in July. Cross is a Central Valley School District bus driver and has served as Central Valley PSE chapter president since 2005.

Peggy Barnes was named Teacher of the Week through a program sponsored by the Seattle Mariners, Washington State Employees Credit Union and Seattle radio station 710 AM ESPN. Barnes received $500 and was honored at the Sept. 18 Mariners game. She is a second grade teacher at Sunrise Elementary School in Spokane Valley.

Engineering

• USKH Inc. has named Kennet Bertelsen an associate of the company. Bertelsen works in the civil engineering department at the company’s Spokane office.

Finance

Traci McGlathery has been hired by Spokane Teachers Credit Union as community relations manager. She has more than 20 years of hospitality industry experience and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Columbia University.

• Spokane Division Manager Julie Orenstein has been promoted to senior vice president for Banner Bank. She has been with the company for seven years.

Tammy Fleiger has been promoted to vice president of operations for Spokane Teachers Credit Union. She has been with the credit union for 20 years. The company also promoted Chris Dunford to director of support services. He has been with STCU more than seven years.

Healthcare

• Pullman Regional Hospital has hired Ian Wallace as a certified genetic counselor. He holds a master’s degree from Boston University School of Medicine and has interned at the Mayo Clinic, Tufts Medical Center Hospital for Children and the National Birth Defects Center.

Patrick Sullivan has been hired by Kootenai Prosthetics and Orthotics/Valley Orthopedic as a certified pedorthist and master ski boot fitter. He is the owner of Alpine Pro Performance and is an instructor with MasterFit University. He graduated from the prosthetics and orthotics program at Spokane Falls Community College and previously worked for Thompson’s Custom Orthotics and Prosthetics.

Government

• The American Planning Association–Idaho presented Coeur d’Alene Mayor Sandi Bloem with its Planning Leadership Award.

Nonprofit

Liisa Spink has been named director of The Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center in Post Falls. She previously served as a project manager for the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon and London and has extensive related experience. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a master’s degree in Shakespeare studies from The Shakespeare Institute.

• Connoisseur Concerts has elected the following individuals as officers for its 2011-12 board of trustees: president, Verne Windham; vice president, Douglass Hammond; treasurer, John Wilkinson ; and secretary, Elizabeth Godlewski. Newly elected trustees include: Steve Egland, Leonard Oakland and Michal Rosenberger .

• Spokane County United Way has elected John Moloney as chairman of the board and Tom Stevenson as chairman-elect. Moloney is president of Moloney + O’Neill; Stevenson is managing partner of Moss Adams LLP.

Real Estate

Taylor Nienaber has been hired as an agent for Keller Williams Realty Spokane.

• Kiemle and Hagood Company hired Cheryl Klein as community association manager. She is a licensed Realtor in Idaho and previously worked as a sales consultant for a local development company.

Marianne Guenther Bornhoft received the 2011 Applebee’s Community Partner Award. She is a Realtor with Windermere Manito and is a committee representative for the Windermere Foundation.
