Religion Notebook: African Children’s Choir to perform

The First Church of the Nazarene, 9004 N. Country Homes Blvd., will present the African Children’s Choir on Sunday at 10:45 a.m.

The choir features children from Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Southern Sudan and Nkomazi and has performed around the world.

The 45-minute concert will be followed by the church’s regular Sunday service.

‘First Fridays with the Bishop’

Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, 6910 S. Ben Burr Road, will present “First Fridays with the Bishop,” with Spokane Diocese Bishop Blase Cupich on most Fridays from September through May.

The first of this series will be Friday starting with Mass at 11:15 a.m. followed by lunch and a talk by Cupich. The topic will be “What I did on my summer vacation (and my first year as Bishop of Spokane).”

The cost is $15, which will cover lunch.

New church

A new church is forming in Hillyard and will include fellowship and music.

The Words of Christ Fellowship meets with Pastor Dale McKean on Sundays at 11 a.m. in the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council Building, 6116 N. Market St.
