Give Bush credit

I remember protesters hitting the streets in this country when President George Bush prosecuted Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. We were treated to the shrill voices of Cindy Sheehan and Hillary Clinton screaming with indignation about the war.

Now, there is a conspicuous silence about war activities in Afghanistan and elsewhere from the guys wearing granny specs and ponytails. In 2003, the Bush administration stated that the goal of military operations was to spread democracy throughout the Middle East. Now, we see reports of Arab Spring uprisings possibly resulting in democracies being created in the region.

If this does happen, Bush should be given the credit he is due. If new theocracies are created in the image of Iran, President Barack Obama should be held accountable.
