In brief: Clothing bank seeks professional wear

LIBERTY LAKE/SPOKANE VALLEY – Spokane Valley Partners Clothing Bank will hold the annual Best Foot Forward clothing drive Sept. 10 through Sept. 18, to benefit area men and women with professional clothing for job interviews, white collar jobs and dress occasions.

Gently used suits, dresses, shoes, ties, belts and other dress clothes may be dropped off in the large donation boxes at the Liberty Lake and Spokane Valley Safeway stores, during normal business hours. Spokane Valley Partners, 10814 E. Broadway Ave., will provide a tax donation slip, if needed, Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Spokane Valley Partners would like to encourage local businesses to also hold clothing drives to help people in Spokane Valley.

Groups can apply for tourism funding

SPOKANE VALLEY – Spokane Valley is now accepting applications to request tourism promotion funding. The city collects a lodging tax that is distributed every year to organizations that present and/or promote tourism related activities.

Organizations must submit 10 copies of their funding proposal by 4 p.m. Sept. 16. Forms are available online at www.spokanevalley.org or at City Hall, 11707 E. Sprague Ave.

The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee will review the applications and make recommendations on granting funding to the City Council in October. Call (509) 720-5041 for more information.

CVHS class of 1950 to meet Friday for lunch

SPOKANE VALLEY – The Central Valley High School Class of 1950 will celebrate its 61st class reunion with a luncheon at Timber Creek Buffet, 9211 E. Montgomery Drive, on Friday at 1 p.m.

Car, bike show honors members of military

SPOKANE VALLEY – The second annual Military Appreciation Open Car and Bike Show, hosted by Valley Fourth Memorial Church, will be Sept. 10. The event, which honors members of the Armed Forces, is open to all cars, motorcycles and pedal bikes. Proceeds benefit Time of Rembrance of Washington.

There will be free food, free photo CD, door prizes and dash plaque. Register online or print form from www.valley4th.com. It’s from noon to 3 p.m. at 2303 S. Bowdish Road. Cost is $10 early registration, $13 day of show registration. For more information call (509) 924-4525.
