Corker loss will be felt

The Aug. 16 primary election had some surprising results, none more so than the elimination of longtime Councilman Steve Corker in his bid to become the next City Council president.

Councilman Corker has been an advocate of the neighborhood process, and over the past four years has championed several neighborhood issues including the ability of neighborhoods to do planning and address the needs and concerns in their respective neighborhoods.

With his loss the neighborhoods will have lost a voice on the council and the community as a whole will have lost a valuable resource of experience.

Chair, West Central Neighborhood Council
