Investigators believe neighbor killed woman

From staff reports
A 20-year-old woman was shot multiple times and killed Saturday night at a four-plex apartment in Spokane County, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office reported. Investigators believe the shooter was a 26-year-old man who lived in the apartment unit next door and was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound early this morning, Detective David Thornburg said in a news release. Police were called to the victim’s apartment at 205 E. Westview Avenue, north of the Y, about 9:15 p.m. Police found the woman, whose name has not been released, in her living room. Witnesses in the apartment said the shooter was the victim’s neighbor who had fled to his own apartment, Thornburg said. Deputies were unable to make contact with the suspect, and a SWAT team entered the apartment about 4 a.m., Thornburg said. The suspect was found dead in his bathroom. The incident remains under investigation, Thornburg said.
