Fresh sheet: Interest brews in craft beer tasting

Get Spokane’s Oktoberfest on your calendar.

The Washington Beer Commission will reprise the craft beer tasting Friday and Saturday, Sept. 23 and 24, in Riverfront Park, transforming the Gondola Meadow into a Bavarian biergarten.

The $15 advance ticket will buy a commemorative tasting cup along with five 5.5 ounce sample tastes. Additional taste tokens will be $1.50 or four for $5. There will be 24 Washington breweries at the tasting, including 14 from the east side of the Cascades, pouring more than 50 different beers.

Tickets will be $20 at the door, but are expected to sell out. Advance tickets can be purchased online at the Washington Beer Commission website.

Relish Cooking Expo next Thursday

Relish magazine and chef Jon Ashton will be returning to the Greyhound Park and Event Center in Post Falls on Sept. 15 for The Relish Cooking Show Expo 2011.

Tickets to the show, sponsored by the Coeur d’Alene Press, are $13 and will showcase chef Ashton as he shares recipes, cooking tips and new ideas for the kitchen, starting at 7 p.m.

The pre-show expo starts at 5 p.m. and includes local products and services. Each show attendee will receive a gift bag that includes coupons, special discount offers and the Relish Cooking Show recipe booklet.
