Town hall perplexing

U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ town hall meeting has left me concerned and confused.

After supporting the Ryan Medicare plan, Cathy told Spokane that she “never supported a voucher system.”

When it comes to energy, she encouraged us to conserve energy wherever possible. Just minutes prior to this announcement, she said that she was working with the House to overturn a mandate to phase out 100 watt incandescent bulbs, which was a move by the prior administration to – guess what? – conserve energy.

She stated that the budget can’t be balanced by cuts alone, yet she stood with the party that refused to look at any revenue options.

She is in favor of community block grants, yet she voted to cut these grants by 62 percent.

She is in favor of deregulating the banks in spite of the recent track record. She said, “The EPA is a big problem” and is working with the Republicans to defund that organization.

Did you also know that she supports “closing tax loopholes on big business” regardless of her voting record? She stated, not once but twice, that Americans pay the highest taxes “in the world!” There are 22 nations that pay more taxes.

She is good at political doublespeak and is not concerned with “facts.”
