Denard Robinson stunned Notre Dame in the final minute again.

He threw a 16-yard pass to Roy Roundtree with 2 seconds left, lifting Michigan to a 35-31 heart-pounding win over Notre Dame on Saturday night in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Wolverines took their first lead of the game on Robinson’s 21-yard pass to Vincent Smith with 1:12 left, then lost it.

Briefly.

Tommy Rees threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Theo Riddick with 30 seconds left, but the Fighting Irish left Jeremy Gallon wide open on a pass that let Michigan go from its 20 to the Notre Dame 16.

Robinson was 11 of 24 for 338 yards with four TDs and three interceptions and ran 11 times for 108 yards and a score.

Notre Dame was doomed by turnovers for the second straight week.

Rees threw two interceptions, one near the end zone, fumbled deep in Michigan territory. Cierre Wood, who gave Notre Dame a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, also fumbled.

Rees was 27 of 39 for 315 yards with three TDs and two interceptions

(2) LSU 49, Northwestern State 3: At Baton Rouge, La., Spencer Ware and Michael Ford ran for two scores apiece and the Tigers (2-0) overwhelmed the Demons (1-1).

Coveted junior college transfer quarterback Zach Mettenberger went 8 of 11 for 92 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown pass, making his debut in relief of LSU starter Jarrett Lee to open the second half.

(5) Florida State 62, Charlestown Southern 10: At Tallahassee, Fla., EJ Manuel threw for a career-best 329 yards and four touchdowns as the Seminoles (2-0) defeated the Buccaneers (0-2) in a tune-up for next week’s showdown against top-ranked Oklahoma.

Charlestown Southern didn’t complete a pass or have a first down in the first half, and trailed 34-0.

(11) Virginia Tech 17, East Carolina 10: At Greenville, N.C., Josh Oglesby ran for the go-ahead 10-yard score with 7:30 left, helping the Hokies (2-0) beat the Pirates (0-2) to give coach Frank Beamer his 200th win at the school.

David Wilson ran for 138 yards to lead Virginia Tech.

(12) South Carolina 45, Georgia 42: At Athens, Ga., the Gamecocks (2-0, 1-0 SEC) scored twice off turnovers, including defensive end Melvin Ingram’s second touchdown with 3:12 remaining and held on to beat the error-prone Bulldogs (0-2, 0-1).

Georgia got four touchdown passes from Aaron Murray but simply couldn’t overcome all the major blunders.

(14) Arkansas 52, New Mexico 3: At Little Rock, Ark., Tyler Wilson threw for 259 yards and accounted for a pair of touchdowns as the Razorbacks (2-0) defeated the Lobos.

Tarean Austin completed 16 of 29 passes for New Mexico (0-2), but he managed only 133 yards.

(15) Ohio State 27, Toledo 22: At Columbus, Ohio, John Simon pressured backup Rockets quarterback Terrance Owens, forcing an incompletion on fourth down with 48 seconds left, to preserve the Buckeyes’ (2-0) victory.

Toledo (1-1) drove from their own 28 and were 17 yards away from becoming the first in-state team to beat Ohio State since 1921.

Auburn 41, (16) Mississippi State 34: At Auburn, Ala., Ryan Smith stopped Chris Relf at the goal line on the final play to preserve the Tigers’ (2-0, 1-0 Southeastern Conference) win over the Bulldogs (1-1, 0-1).

Relf kept the ball on an option and headed for the end zone before Smith went low and brought the 240-pound quarterback down for Auburn.

(17) Michigan State 44, FAU 0: At East Lansing, Mich., Kirk Cousins threw for 183 yards and two touchdowns, and the Spartans (2-0) held the Owls (0-2) to one first down.

B.J. Cunningham caught five passes for 73 yards, breaking a tie with Matt Trannon for Michigan State’s career lead in receptions. The Spartans outgained FAU 434-48.

(18) Florida 39, UAB 0: At Gainesville, Fla., Chris Rainey ran for 119 yards and a touchdown, Caleb Sturgis kicked three field goals after the offense bogged down and the Gators (2-0) beat the Blazers (0-1).

John Brantley completed 12 of 19 passes for 195 yards for Florida.

(19) West Virginia 55, Norfolk State 12: At Morgantown, W.Va., Geno Smith threw for 371 yards and four scores and the Mountaineers (2-0) overcame a rough start to beat the Spartans (1-1).

The Mountaineers scored on their first seven possessions of the second half to erase a 12-10 halftime deficit to an FCS opponent.

(22) South Florida 37, Ball State 7: At Tampa, Fla., B.J. Daniels threw for a career-best 359 yards and one touchdown, leading the Bulls (2-0) to a rout of the Cardinals (1-1).

When South Florida had difficulty finishing drives, Maikon Bonani delivered field goals of 31, 24 and 38 yards.

(24) Texas 17, BYU 16: At Austin, Texas, backup quarterbacks Case McCoy and David Ash pumped new life into a struggling Longhorns offense and Cody Johnson scored a fourth-quarter touchdown as Texas (2-0) rallied to beat the Cougars (1-1).

With the younger brother of former Texas QB Colt McCoy and Ash rotating snaps after ineffective starter Garrett Gilbert was pulled in the second quarter, the Longhorns used a punishing running game to rally from a 13-3 halftime deficit.

(25) TCU 35, Air Force 19: At Air Force Academy, Colo., the Horned Frogs (1-1) routed the Falcons (1-1) for their 18th straight win in the Mountain West Conference.

Matthew Tucker, playing in place of the injured Ed Wesley, scored on a 1-yard leap and a 3-yard run in the first half as TCU built a 21-0 lead.
