Don’t sell Ben Burr Road

Selling Ben Burr Road so Dave Black can make some money makes even less sense now than it did in 2007. Your Sept. 4 article fails to mention the biggest change since 2007: the collapse of the commercial real estate market.

Even though there was widespread opposition from average people to the city changing zoning at Regal and Palouse to allow commercial development, none has occurred. Why? Because the commercial real estate market has collapsed. For the same reason, there are empty storefronts in new commercial buildings on 57th Avenue right now.

After Dave Black has stolen a useful road, thrown up some buildings and sold out to another company to make his profit, will he care that he leaves vacant storefronts at the foot of Browne Mountain?
