In brief: Free dump passes will be issued tonight

NORTHWEST – The Northwest Neighborhood Association will distribute free dump passes for residents at today’s meeting at 7 p.m. at Browne Elementary School, 5102 N. Driscoll Blvd. The northwest neighborhood covers the area west of Ash Street to the Spokane River, bound by Belt Street and Indiana Avenue on the south, Francis Avenue on the north to Fairview Avenue, including Westgate and Northwest Terrace. A limited number of Clean Green passes will also be available.

A driver’s license or a utility bill is required to verify residence in the northwest neighborhood.

Dump passes will be issued on a first come, first serve basis. Passes are good for approximately two weeks after they are issued.

Dump passes remaining after distribution at the general meeting will be distributed on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the COPS Northwest Shop, 2215 W. Wellesley Ave., Suite D, at Shadle Center.

Bowlers can help heart transplant patient

CHENEY – Friends of Lorna Jarms will host “Lorna’s Bowling Extravaganza” next Thursday at Cheney Lanes, 1706 Second St., from 5:30 p.m. to midnight.

The family event will raise funds to help pay for Jarms’ medical expenses after a recent heart transplant due to cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure.

Admission cost is $6 for unlimited bowling and shoe rental. To make a donation for Jarms, contributions may be sent to the National Foundation for Transplants fund, 5350 Poplar Ave., Suite 430, Memphis, TN 38119. In the memo line, write “in honor of Lorna Jarms.” Donations may also be made online at www.transplants.org. Click on “Patients We Help” to find Jarms.
