Body recovered from river near downtown Spokane

A body found submerged in the Spokane River this morning has been recovered by Spokane Police. Identity of the deceased was unavailable and major crimes detectives have been called to the downtown riverbank to help determine cause of death, according to the Spokane Police Department. The Spokane County dive team also was called to the scene to assist. The corpse was spotted shortly before 8 a.m. in the river near the Red Lion Hotel at the Park, 303 W. River Drive, by a hotel employee, police said.
