Carroll gets back on track with win over Montana Western

The defending NAIA national champion Carroll Fighting Saints got back on track after a loss a week ago with a 35-13 rout over Montana Western Saturday in Dillon, Mont.

Carroll’s Dane Broadhead threw for two touchdowns and Chance Demarais rushed for two scores to lead the Fighting Saints, who lost to Eastern Oregon last Saturday.

Broadhead completed 14 of 20 passes for 200 yards with one interception and two touchdowns. Demarais exploded for 231 yards on 28 carries for Carroll (2-1), which held Montana Western scoreless after the first quarter.

Carroll will play at Montana Tech next Saturday.

• Western Oregon 14, Central Washington 7: The Wildcats committed five turnovers and remained winless at 0-3 with a loss to the Wolves (2-1) in Monmouth, Ore.

Wildcats quarterback Ryan Robertson tied his career-high with 322 passing yards in the loss.

Cal Lutheran 28, Pacific Lutheran 17: The No. 19 Kingsmen (1-1) scored 21 unanswered points in the third quarter and beat the visiting Lutes (1-1) in Moorpark, Calif.

Zack Halverson had 240 passing yards and two touchdowns to guide Pacific Lutheran.

• Sewanee 34, Puget Sound 23: The Loggers (0-2) folded after taking a 10-0 first-quarter lead and fell to the visiting Tigers (2-1) in Tacoma.

George Ka’ai threw for 311 yards and had two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown to guide Puget Sound.
