In brief: Miss Spokane now taking applicants

SPOKANE COUNTY – Applications are being accepted for the 2012 Miss Spokane Program.

Categories are: Miss, ages 17-24 (at least a senior in high school); Teen, ages 13-16 (not a senior in high school); and Princess, ages 7-11 (a mentoring program, not a competition).

Tasting event benefits women

RIVERSIDE – Project Beauty Share will hold its third annual Beauty Bash on Oct. 19 at the Nectar Tasting Room, 120 N. Stevens St., from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will include wine, food and a special gift. Donations of new and gently used beauty, cosmetic and toiletry products will also be accepted.

Cost is a $10 donation per person.

Project Beauty Share is a year-round initiative to collect beauty products and distribute them through local agencies to women whose circumstances do not allow them to afford the items.
