San Francisco sweeps Gonzaga in volleyball

Jocelyn Levig had a match-high 13 kills and Vendula Strakova added 11 kills while hitting .786 as San Francisco swept Gonzaga on Thursday in West Coast Conference volleyball at Martin Centre.

The first-place Dons (11-5, 3-0), coming off a win over No. 16 San Diego, won the first game 25-16 while hitting .421.

Laura Day had seven kills and 14 digs for the Bulldogs (6-8, 0-3), who dropped their fourth consecutive match.

• Meredith Hays had 19 kills and 10 digs and New Mexico State (12-4, 2-0 Western Athletic Conference) captured the final games 25-23, 25-22 to defeat Idaho 3-1 at Las Cruces, N.M.

Alicia Milo and Allison Walker combined for 30 kills for the Vandals (6-9, 1-2).

Men’s soccer

Zach Allert’s goal in the 87 minute allowed visiting Community Colleges of Spokane (2-3-5) to finish in a 1-all tie in nonconference play at North Idaho.

Chad Ward assisted on Mike Leptich’s goal at 5 minutes for the Cardinals (3-4-2).

Arena football

The Spokane Shock re-signed wide receiver Brandon Thompkins (5-foot-10, 185 pounds).

Thompkins, a late-season acquisition, had 17 receptions for 200 yards and three touchdowns in four games.
